Who is it for?

Love Your Camera is for anyone that has a digital SLR camera and wants to take better portraits.

You love taking photos.  You will get the low-down on taking better photos of people, primarily children.

What will the Workshop cover?

  • The easy way to operate your digital SLR camera in Manual mode
  • Camera Equipment - the ins and outs of what you really need and why
  • Lighting - indoor and outdoor
  • Posing - how I make individuals and groups look natural and genuine
  • Composition and Styling - including my take on clothing and props
  • Location - how it can make or break a portrait
  • Unlocking your creative side

Do I need a digital SLR camera?

It isn't essential to have an SLR camera, although it is recommended.  A portion of the workshop will be showing you how to shoot with an SLR.  We will also be covering lighting, composition, the making of a great photograph and getting the best out of your subject.  This applies to all photography no matter what you are using to take that photograph.  There are some very good point and shoot cameras available these days, but I won't have the time during the workshop to discuss individual functionality of each point-and-shoot.  Equipment information will relate to SLR functionality.

Do I need to know how to use my digital SLR?

No -- that's what I'm here for!  If you haven't taken your camera off Auto since you bought it, that will all change by the end of the workshop.  I will show you how to balance ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed to create beautiful portraits.

What lens do I need?

Whichever lens is on your camera most of the time.  You only need one lens on the day of the workshop.  The workshop includes information on equipment, including lenses.

Will you be covering film photography?

No.

Do we receive a digital workbook to keep forever that is so easy to follow we won't believe it?

Why yes, yes you do.

I want to start, or have already started, my own children's photography business.  Can I still attend?

Of course.  If you think there is something you can learn from me, I would love you to come along.  While business information will not be covered, I share lots of tips on how I operate during a client photography session.

What do I need to bring to the workshop?

Your camera (with a charged battery and empty card) and a notebook.

How much does the workshop cost?

$225, including yummy lunch and a digital workbook.

I have a question that you haven't thought of.

Please contact me here and I will answer it asap!
